The Caterpillars are a parent-child class for kids’ ages 2-3 years who have achieved an appropriate level of independence. The parental involvement with this class is designed to buffer the child’s developing autonomy from the need to feel protected in a social environment. The curriculum of this class is designed around the use of solitary play to introduce the children to the more advanced forms of play they will utilize as they grow older. The curriculum includes the use of basic forms of parallel, associative, and cooperative play to meet the intended goals of the class. These goals include: improved physical coordination, use of imitation, balance, development of goals & intention. This is the final class that involves the parents throughout the entire session.
